Our Customer Contact Centre supports customers of all ages, who live anywhere in Scotland, on the full range of Skills Development Scotland services.

Results Helpline

Every August the SDS Customer Contact Centre becomes of the home of the SDS Results Helpline.

Thousands of young people can access dedicated results support when the lines open at 8am on 4 August when they will receive their results. The Results Helpline will be open on August 4 and 5 from 8am to 8pm, August 6 and 7 from 9am-5pm and August 10 to 12 from 9am-5pm.

Bringing together a team of SDS’s professionally qualified careers advisers from across Scotland, the helpline offers unique access to information on UCAS course vacancies at college and universities across the UK, Confirmation and Clearing, advice about Modern Apprenticeships, employment and training opportunities.

The free* helpline number is 0808 100 8000.

It’s a hugely valued service, with 99% of young people, their parents and carers who answered a post-call survey in 2019 telling us they found the adviser they spoke to helpful and polite, with 92% saying they would recommend using the helpline to a friend.

Help for individuals

Based in Glasgow, the contact centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm and our Individual Helpline can be reached on 0800 917 8000. The contact centre also facilitates all web chats that come through My World of Work, as well as responding to email enquiries and feedback that comes in from all of SDS’ web services.

Career information and advice is offered via the centre’s Personal Advisers and Customer Service Advisers who are on hand to offer employability support, advice around all of SDS’ products and services and referrals to other appropriate avenues of support.

Advisers work closely with colleagues in our network of local careers centres, to ensure that customers across Scotland are fully assisted in accessing the support they require from SDS.

The team contact customers across Scotland at different times of the year, to help monitor their progress and offer additional support if required. They also work closely with colleagues from across all areas of Skills Development Scotland and undertake a number of short-term, focused campaigns throughout the year, in partnership with different teams, to gain insight, customer feedback and offer further help and advice to our customers.

A large focus for the contact centre team is providing support to Individual Training Account (ITA) customers, as well as supporting and guiding our customers to use SDS’ web-services: My World of Work, Apprenticeships.Scot and Our Skills Force.

They also support individuals with Transition Training Fund (TTF) enquiries and support them to progress their applications for the fund through our TTF helpline on 0808 100 1855.
